The AFC Fylde Community Foundation are launching a brand new ‘Walking Football’ team aimed at encouraging over the 50s to stay active.

Walking Football is one of the latest crazes in world football and has seen much success in recent years since its inception in 2011 with almost 500 teams in the UK alone.

The Foundation are now hoping get over 50s on the Fylde Coast out of their armchairs and back into sport with a slower version of the beautiful game.

It also provides individuals with a sociable environment to enjoy during their spare time.

Matt Agnew, Community Development Manager at the Foundation, said: “This new team is great for the area and we are very excited about starting the project.

“We spend a lot of time looking after the younger generation and we feel it’s equally important keep the over 50s active too. The sessions will be great fun and hopefully a few participants might rediscover their passion for the game!”

The sessions will start on Monday 1st February (6-7pm) and will be held at Carr Hill High School Sports Hall (Royal Avenue, Kirkham, PR4 2ST). The first session is FREE and just £2 thereafter.
