Curzon Ashton vs AFC Fylde

Pre-season Friendly

AFC Fylde complete their pre-season schedule this weekend with a trip to National League North side Curzon Ashton.

The Coasters have enjoyed an impressive warm-up campaign with victories over Marine (5-0) and League Two side Morecambe (2-1).

Sandwiched between the two victories was a narrow 1-0 home defeat to League One side Rochdale and an entertaining goalless draw against Championship new boys Bolton Wanderers.

Last season’s top scorer Danny Rowe leads the goal charts in pre-season with three goals, most recently finishing off a fantastic team move to open the scoring against Morecambe last time out.

Defender Jordan Tunnicliffe, signed in the summer from Kidderminster Harriers, opened his account for the club with the decisive goal against the Shrimps.

Saturday’s hosts Curzon Ashton have also enjoyed a solid pre-season with just one defeat from their five matches to date.

They kicked off with a 2-1 victory away at Stockport Town, before drawing 1-1 with Mossley FC. Their trip to Colwyn Bay saw them come away with a 1-0 win before they held League One side Oldham to a 1-1 draw.

Last time out they slipped to a narrow 1-0 defeat to Huddersfield Town.

Fylde had mixed fortunes against Curzon last season. Rowe’s hat-trick helped the Coasters to a 4-1 victory back in September, however the frontman’s wonder goal in the reverse fixture at the Tameside Stadium wasn’t enough to prevent the visitors falling to a 3-2 defeat in January.

Challinor’s side start the new National League season on Saturday 5th August against Boreham Wood at Mill Farm, before travelling to Chester three days later for the first away game.
