The AFC Fylde Community Foundation have officially welcomed back the popular ‘Train Like A Pro’ programme for the second year, thanks to the continued support of Cuadrilla and Centrica.

After a hugely successful first year, the Foundation are now underway with the second and are confident of achieving even more success stories and smiling faces throughout the summer.

‘Train Like a Pro’ is a bespoke football development programme which gives local children and grassroots teams the opportunity to take part in sport in a professional football environment.

The programme is unlike any regular football camp as it focuses directly around how professionals train. The young professionals will not only be learning new football skills and enhancing their knowledge of the game, but also being educated on the importance of good health, nutrition and physiotherapy to support and improve performance.

The Foundation are currently working with the youngsters from AFC Blackpool and are already seeing fantastic progress in the children’s ability and confidence. Over the summer they will work with 10 grassroots teams of all ages, genders and abilities to ensure that a diverse range of people get to experience the innovative programme.

Foundation Train Like A Pro lead, Liam Robinson, is delighted the programme is back up and running for the summer. He said “The programme is something I take great personal pride in delivering. To offer the children of the Fylde Coast the opportunity to be able to take part in sport, in a professional football environment, completely free of charge is a hugely rewarding feeling for myself and for other members of staff that get involved with the programme. The children love it, and so do we.”
