AFC Fylde’s Under-18s saw off rivals Chorley to lift the LFA Phil Collier Associates U18 County Youth Cup.

Watched on by first team manager Dave Challinor at the County Ground, the young Coasters got off to a bright start and opened the scoring after just six minutes when Daniel Gray’s free-kick sneaked into the bottom corner.

Fylde doubled their lead on the hour-mark when Sam Rigby converted from the penalty spot and although Kyle Preece went close for Chorley in the dying stages, the Coasters held on for victory.

Manager Chris Ganner said: “Both sides worked very hard but our lads did their jobs and I thought we looked comfortable.

“We’ve won this competition in the past so I’m really proud of the team for lifting the trophy again.”
