Tonight our young Coasters hit the road, as they face Hebburn Town FC in the Third and Final qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup. After soaring through the last round with a 7-1 victory over Clitheroe, Conrad Prendergast’s side are just 90 minutes away from a mouth-watering tie against Lancashire neighbours Morecambe FC, in what will be the First Round Proper.

The U18’s go into tonight’s fixture brimming with confidence, following a hard-fought 3-1 win over Chesterfield in the league on Wednesday.

The positive results in recent weeks have been down to a fantastic team effort, however, a stand-out performer has been Owen Robinson, who is set to feature once again this evening.

We had the privilege of catching up with Owen earlier today, to discuss tonight’s fixture, the season so far and the possibility of reaching the First Round of the FA Youth Cup.

Owen told afcfylde.co.uk: “Overall it has been really positive, apart from an underwhelming performance against Stockport Town in the First Qualifying Round.

“Since then though, we’ve been playing really well as a team and I think our recent results showcase just how clinical we can be in front of goal.

“We are always work towards our next game in training and the excitement always builds towards a match day, especially for the FA Youth Cup.

Owen admitted that despite knowing what lies around the corner – a game against Morecambe – he, and the rest of the team, are only concentrating on the Hebburn Town fixture tonight.

Owen said: “Our focus is solely on tonight and to ensure that we win this game. I have, of course, thought about that fixture and what it would be like to play in, but we know tonight will be a tough game. We are confident that we can progress further if we perform to the high standards that we’ve set.”

We will be bringing you live match day twitter coverage on the @AFCFYLDEACADEMY page.
