Fylde Ladies played out a tense goalless draw against high-flying Stoke City on Sunday.

The Potters were on the hunt for their sixth win on the bounce and started brightly at Kellamergh Park with Hannah Keryakoplis testing goalkeeper Alex Brooks and Faye McCoy missing the target early on.

Stoke stopper Natalie Hall was the busier of the two keepers though, making impressive saves from Leah Foster and Laura Merrin before Cassie Hyde superbly got back to clear an effort from Foster off the line.

With chances at a premium, it came as no surprise that the second half became a midfield battle.

Substitute Ashleigh Hayes had a shot that kept Brooks on her toes whilst Wild tested Hall in the City goal as the match petered out to a 0-0 draw.

Fylde remain seventh in the Women’s Premier League table whilst Stoke move into second place after keeping their first league clean sheet since October.
