The AFC Fylde Community Foundation is celebrating supporting yet another successful Sport Relief Mile – run by Fylde Council.

On Sunday 20^th March, the people of Fylde turned out in their droves to walk, run, hop, skip and do anything else to complete the fun charity mile round Fairhaven Lake.

Players from the AFC Fylde first team, along with mascot Syd the Seagull, were on hand to support runners, walkers and everyone else – spurring them on and even lending a helping hand where needed.

It was all for a great cause, as Sport Relief helps people living incredibly tough lives in the community, nationally and globally.

The Foundation and Fylde Council also invited participants to a family fun day, to celebrate their achievements and raise even more for such a worthy cause.

Tom Hutton, director of community development at the AFC Fylde Community Foundation, said: “We’re always keen to get involved in anything that gets people moving and we all had a great time at the Sport Relief Mile. It was definitely one of the highlights of the year so far. Not only did it raise a really impressive total, it was both humbling and uplifting to see the whole community come together to support a great cause.

“Seeing Syd and our first team players certainly spurred people on when they may have started to feel a bit tired. It’s safe to say the day was enjoyed by all and we really can’t wait to do it all again next year.”
