AFC Fylde vs Gloucester City

Saturday 13th February, 2016, k/o 3pm

Kellamergh Park

Vanarama National League North

After a run of three consecutive matches on the road, the Coasters are back at home for the visit of Gloucester City.

A hard-fought victory at AFC Telford United a fortnight ago was followed up by disappointing defeats against Chorley in the league and Gateshead in the FA Trophy.

All but one of the matches in our league was called off at the weekend and Fylde currently trail table toppers Solihull Moors by seven points with a game in hand.

The Coasters came out top in the reverse fixture back in September as goals from Matt Blinkhorn, Sam Finley and Danny Rowe sealed a 3-1 victory.

Gloucester City enjoyed a clean sweep for the January Manager and Player of the month awards.

Manager Tim Harris led his Tigers team to a remarkable sequence of undefeated performances chalking up four wins and a draw to follow up a very good December. This sequence lifted the club from the relegation zone into the top half of the table.

A stern test on the final day of the month saw City go up against the other form team of January, Boston United, where Harris and his men battled their way to a hard-earned 1-0 victory against the Pilgrims.

It surely cannot be just a case of sheer coincidence that since 18-year-old Robbie Cundy came into the Tigers defensive line up on loan from Oxford United, the club has shot up the table with wins a plenty and significantly a tightening up of overall defensive duties.

Their scheduled fixture against Chorley at the weekend was postponed and they currently sit 11th in the table.

Coasters defender Josh Langley will serve the second game of his three-match suspension, whilst Dave Challinor will be hoping to call upon midfielder Richie Baker who has missed the trip to Gateshead through injury.
