Over May Half Term 2015, The AFC Fylde Community Foundation delivered a range of community sports programmes throughout the borough of Fylde, encouraging future generations to remain fit and healthy and making them aware of the positive impact sport and physical activity has on young people’s health and wellbeing.

The AFC Fylde Community Foundation, working closely with Fylde Council, Lancashire County Council and The Fylde Community Safety Partnership, put together a comprehensive free to attend community sports and activity programme, which provided all young people with the opportunity to take part in a range of fun sports and activities such as; Football, Dodgeball, Netball, Handball, Kwik-Cricket and Athletics. In addition to sports on offer, The Foundation’s detached youth work team also delivered new and unique stimulating detached youth work opportunities, providing a total of 124 young people between the ages of 12-18, the opportunity to take part in stimulating and enriching activities. These activities have been hailed a success by both local partners and young people alike. Stephen Jones is a young person who regularly attends The Foundation’s community sports sessions, and he provided The Foundation’s Community Development team with the following quote;

“I really enjoy coming to AFC Fylde’s sessions. Where I live, we use to have a lot of problems, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings. Now thanks to AFC Fylde these have all gone and I enjoy going to my local park”

In addition to the delivery of free community sports programmes, The Foundation also delivers fantastic community activity camps, at a number of locations throughout The Fylde Coast. Aimed at slightly younger participants, The activity camps provide participants with the opportunity to participate in a range of fun activities.
