Forward departs after his release clause was activated.

AFC Fylde can confirm that Tom Walker has left the club to join Harrogate Town, after an eight-month stay at Mill Farm.

Chairman, David Haythornthwaite openly stated that he did not want to see Walker leave the club but a release clause in his contract was activated by newly-promoted Harrogate, which allowed the forward to head to North Yorkshire.

Everyone at AFC Fylde would like to wish both Tom and Harrogate the best of luck in Sky Bet League Two next season, whilst thanking the 24-year-old for his efforts during his short spell at the club.

David Haythornthwaite, Chairman of AFC Fylde, gave the following comments after seeing Walker leave the club.

He said: “I’m very sad to see Tom go as we really never got to know him that well. You live and learn and the clause inserted into his contract released him only in the event of relegation. At the time it was almost laughable as we considered it “inconceivable” that could happen. Life does that to you though and losing Tom is a result of our arrogance and naivety at that time. I wish him all the best at Harrogate.”
