Fylde Ladies manager Conrad Prendergast believes there is still room for improvement following the 2-0 victory over Guiseley Vixens.

Goals in either half from Lauren Davies and captain Danielle Young were enough to maintain the Ladies 100% start to the new FA Women’s Premier League season, but Prendergast wants more from his promotion hopefuls.

Prendergast said: “Although we were successful in claiming all three points, I was less than impressed with the overall performance.

“At the end of the first half it was difficult to make out which team were new to the league and which were one of the league favorites. We did not play well or to the style we have spoken about time after time so we must improve.

“That said, winning 2-0 whilst not performing to the level I know we can is one big positive we can take from this.

“We are in County Cup action this weekend before we face a tough Derby County side back in the league. We will be working hard so that we can achieve what we have set out to do this season.”

Next up, Fylde take a break from league action as they welcome Bury Women to Kellamergh Park on Sunday (2pm) in the County Cup.
