AFC Fylde assistant manager Colin Woodthorpe says that the team have used their week off well as they prepare for a run of three games in seven days.

The Coasters didn’t play last week due to Alfreton Town’s involvement in the FA Trophy and that fixture has been rearranged for Tuesday 24th January, sandwiched in between clashes against Curzon Ashton and Altrincham.

Woodthorpe is sure that the squad are very for an ‘exciting week.’

“Of course, you want to play games but it’s been useful to have a break. We’ve got together and done a few different things as a team.

“We’ve done some team building, switched up training and done other bits and pieces. We’ve fully used to two weeks to make sure that we are set to go for the three games in the next week.

“If you’re sat at the end of that week having won the three games, it puts you a significant step closer to the place that you want to be. We’re not taking anything for granted.

“Different clubs are fighting for different things in these three games. We need to be on top in those games and then the fixtures could possibly take care of themselves.

“It’s the start of an exciting week. We’ve got the three games in a seven-day period. We watched Curzon on Monday, they like to play so it will be an interesting game with the different problems that we’ve had over the last few games that we’ve played.”

Fylde won the reverse fixture against Curzon 4-1 in September with Danny Rowe scoring a hat-trick. The Coasters star has 35 goals so far in all competitions this season but is goalless in three matches.

Despite this, Fylde have scored six goals over their last two games with five different players on the scoresheet and Woodthorpe says Rowe’s form is not a concern.

“We’ve got a number of scorers. It’s not just Danny, we’ve got goalscorers from virtually every position. It takes the pressure off him.

“He’s been scoring freely before the last three games but guess what? Other people have. We’ve still scored goals recently too so it’s not a problem. He’s back now fully fit so the time off has been useful for him as well.”

The Coasters had the TV cameras down at training this week and the club are attracting more and more attention from the footballing world. Woodthorpe believes that Fylde coverage can be useful for the club on and off the pitch.

“We’ve had the coverage every now and again and it’s good. You don’t want anything to get in the way of what the end game is for us.

“It is useful to put us on the map and people will look at your because we are where we are in the division, we have got a player that has scored that many goals and we have scored that many goals collectively as a team.

“You know people are going to come and have a little chat with you. It’s also good for the club itself because of the stadium so it gets that on the map as much as the club.

“I think the chairman is quite pleased and quite proud that we are getting some coverage. He’s put a lot of money and effort to get us where we are now.”
