Vanarama National League North Promotion Final

It all comes down to this. One match. One winner. It’s the final!

AFC Fylde go head-to-head with rivals North Ferriby United in the Promotion Final on Saturday with a place in the National League up for grabs.

The two sides had been jostling with each other for some time in the league schedule and the Villagers eventually secured the runners up spot in the National League North on the final day of the season and therefore have home advantage this weekend.

The Coasters sealed their place in the final after seeing off Harrogate Town in the semi-finals. Fylde led 1-0 from the first leg after Danny Rowe’s solo goal and finished the job at Kellamergh Park on Sunday with a tense 1-1 draw against the Yorkshire outfit.

Ferriby turned around a two-goal deficit from their first leg against Boston United to reach the final. Boston led 2-0 in the first leg and looked favourites to book their place in the show piece event, however three goals without reply from Ferriby in the return leg secured their passage.

Ferriby claimed the bragging rights over Fylde this season, completing a league double over the Coasters. The Villagers ran out 3-0 winners in the last meeting at the Eon Visual Media Stadium with goals from Ashley Palmer, Liam King and Tom Denton.

The second meeting was a far closer affair with the visitors leaving with a narrow 3-2 victory. Ferriby took the lead shortly before the break through Nathan Hotte before King doubled the advantage. Dion Charles pulled on back for the hosts but striker Tom Denton restored the two-goal cushion. Sam Finley’s wondergoal in the dying embers of the match gave the Coasters hope but Ferriby held on, despite Matty Hughes seeing a goal disallowed in the last minute.

As the hosts of the final, North Ferriby will wear their white and green home shirts with green shorts and green socks, whilst the Coasters will line up in orange shirts, black shorts and black socks.
