Mill Farm

Vanarama National League

AFC Fylde are back at Mill Farm once again this weekend for the visit of National League leaders Macclesfield Town.

The Coasters are currently the form-team in the division, picking up 13 points from a possible 15 over the last five game.

Last time out, man-of-the-hour Danny Rowe crashed home an 88th minute free-kick to seal a deserved 2-1 victory over Guiseley.

Jonny Smith, paired with Rowe in a front two, broke the deadlock early on however James Roberts hit back for Guiseley against the run of play.

It looked as though it wouldn’t be Rowe’s day after he saw numerous shots blocked, fly wide and hit the woodwork. However, it was better late than never for the reliable hitman who rifled home a set-piece from 25 yards in the final moments.

Rowe is now two clear at the top of the goal charts with 15. Macclesfield’s top scorer Scott Wilson has 11 to his name.

Fylde’s purple patch has been them move up to 11th in the table, just three points outside the play-offs places with a game in hand.

Macclesfield have enjoyed a sensational first half to the season and sit four points clear at the top of the pile.

John Askey’s table toppers trail only ourselves in the form table over the last five games, with three victories and two draws. The Silkmen are unbeaten over their last ten league fixtures, winning half of them, however they were held to a goalless draw by Solihull Moors in their last league match almost a fortnight ago.

Since then, they were beaten by league rivals FC Halifax Town last time out as they slipped out of the FA Trophy.

Dave Challinor’s side suffered last-minute heartbreak in the reverse fixture at the Moss Rose back in September.

Silkman striker Scott Wilson opened the scoring in shocking weather conditions, however Jack Muldoon levelled the scores shortly after the break. The Coasters were made to pay for missed chances during a rejuvenated second-half display when Wilson raced through to clinch the points in added time.
