This Sunday is set to be a memorable occasion for AFC Fylde Women as they prepare to face WSL opposition Aston Villa Women in the Fourth Round Proper of the Vitality Women’s FA Cup.

This eagerly awaited Cup tie will be played at the Poundland Bescot Stadium in Walsall, with kick-off at 6.00 pm. It is sure to be a proud day for the club as the Coasters test themselves against top-flight opposition.

As Danielle Young’s team get ready for the big game this weekend, let us remind ourselves how they made it this far in the competition.

The Coasters began their journey in this season’s Vitality Women’s FA Cup in mid-November with a trip to St. James’ Park in Alnwick. Fylde produced an impressive display to win 4-1 against Alnwick Town Ladies FC in Northumberland.

Young’s side made sure of the victory with goals from Iszy Binks, Hannah Forster, Katie Smith and Emily Hollinshead to book their place in the next round.

In late November, Kellamergh Park played host to an exhilarating Cup tie. The Coasters completed a remarkable turnaround to earn a 5-4 win against Middlesbrough Women FC.

After the two sides could not be separated after 90 minutes, the tie was settled in extra-time when the Coasters scored two decisive goals to overcome the Teessiders.

In December, the Coasters signed off the year in style with a 5-2 win against Solihull Moors Women at the Davisons Laws Arena.

Fylde raced into the lead with a hat-trick from Faye McCoy and a header from Jenna Carroll. Early in the second half, the Moors worked their way back into the tie with two quick-fire goals, only to see the Coasters extinguish any hope of a comeback when Amy Hughes then added a fifth to put the game out of reach.

The Coasters can now look forward to an exciting Fourth Round Proper tie against Carla Ward’s Aston Villa Women in what will be a historic occasion for the club.
