The Coasters will be looking to carry on their good form this weekend against Ebbsfleet United after a win on the road last time out to Oldham Athletic.

A dominant first 30 minutes saw the Coasters score three goals from three different goalscorers in Nick Haughton, Adam Long and Ethan Mitchell. The Latics scored a consolation goal in the second half which didn’t stop the Coasters from coasting to the three points.

If the Coasters win this weekend it practically confirms safety however Chris Beech won’t be allowing his side to slip up this late into the season. With goals flying in all over the shop this Saturday’s game could be a goal fest.

The Opposition

The Fleet just like the Coasters are trying to retain their National League status after promotion last season and with Danny Searle taking charge that looks more likely to happen. Since taking over on the 13th of February, Searle and his Ebbsfleet team have lost once to playoff contenders Aldershot Town.

Part of this amazing run was the fact that Searle has made the Kuflink stadium an absolute fortress with only one team leaving with a point in 5 home games. These results have seen the Fleet move out of the relegation zone despite looking almost doomed for relegation at one point in the season.

With 5 games to go and only 3 points ahead of the relegation zone, the Fleet will be looking to make the most of their games against teams around them as well as their amazing home form. But with both teams needing a win to help stay up, Saturday’s game could be a close affair.

Classic Clash:
This week’s classic clash between the two sides goes back to the first meeting between the clubs in 2017. The Coasters roared into a two goal lead on a hot August afternoon before the Fleet scored two goals in quick succession to level things up. A wonderful goal from Sam Finley gave the Coasters the lead before halftime. However, a last-minute strike from Andrew Drury gave the home side a share of the points. Both sides would go onto make the playoffs that season.

Key Players:

Dominic Poleon – Just over 70 goals for Poleon in Ebbsfleet colours and he is definitely a fans favourite. Pace and power to get round a man and finish the move off is something rare at this level however Poleon has got that. Top goalscorer for the Fleet this season even though he missed a large part of it through injury, definitely one to watch this weekend.

Myles Kenlock – Key part of a back four which has conceded less goals than most of the teams in the bottom half. Kenlock is very versatile and can play on the left of a back four or a three and also as a centre half. At 6ft 1in Kenlock is not the tallest defender in the league but is certainly imposing with his aerial capability.

Josh Wright – Another player who has played a lot of minutes this season is Josh Wright. A versatile player who can play in a multitude of positions as well as having vital experience from his EFL days. At 34 this could be one of Wright’s last seasons and will be looking to go out on a high by keeping Ebbsfleet up.
