AFC Fylde held a fantastic ‘Meet The Manager’ event with Jim Bentley on Thursday night, which took place at the Fylde Sport & Education Centre (FSEC).

The ever popular ‘pie and pint’ deal returned, with an informal and enjoyable atmosphere at the heart of it.

Below is a brief recap of just some of the areas addressed to Jim Bentley and Chairman David Haythonthwaite.

Recap

How is it going so far?

JB: It’s going really well, the staff and players have been really welcoming. As a club I cant speak highly enough of it, but so far so good.

What are the expectations for the rest of the season?

JB: “It’s simple, win your next game. At this present moment in time it’s about getting that next win to strengthen our position.”

On midfield options

JB: Coming into the club, Philly shows great strengths. Croasdale has been superb since we have come in, he has two goals in two including that fantastic finish at Nantwich – his strength is box to box.

Can we expect incomings or outgoings?

JB: We want to improve every area. Myself, the Chairman and Jamie have had discussions already on what we want to improve. I would expect one or two to go out and one or two to come in, but only if we get the right player.”

Atmosphere in the dressing room

JB: “Players have got to demand off each other. The mentality and togetherness has been really good.

They have been nice and focused, the work ethic and spirit is good and we want to promote that feel good factor around the squad.”

Academy structure

JB: ” We took a couple to Burnley for the training game and one got on the pitch along with Sheldon Green.

We will look at putting a structure together to give these lads a pathway. I’m a big believer in if they’re good enough, they will be in.”

On Sheldon Green

JB: “For him he needs to go out on loan and get that experience. He’s a decent enough player, but he does need to get out on loan to get that exposure.”

On fan engagement

JB: ” You need us and we need you. It is important that any professional footballer can go out of their way and give something back.”
