The Coasters return back to Mill Farm this weekend looking to amend last Saturday’s result away to Boreham Wood FC.

The Coasters lost 4-0 in what was a very poor performance from Chris Beech’s side. That result may have brought the Coasters back down to earth after a recent run of 7 games unbeaten from the start of January to the middle of February. However, since that run the Coasters have picked up 1 point and conceded 10 goals in 3 matches.

With Maidenhead the visitors to Mill Farm this weekend who are also in a similar position to the Coasters. This game can be simply defined as a must-win for both sides and a six-pointer.

A win for Fylde can see the Coasters go above Maidenhead in the league table and at this time of the season that could prove pivotal in the battle to go down. Chris Beech will have to rally his side around and get them prepared for a battle this Saturday.

The Opposition

The side always predicted to go down at the start of any National League season are once again proving everybody wrong by sitting in 16th with a 3-point gap between themselves and the relegation zone. Recent form wasn’t looking too good but a run of 4 straight defeats ended last saturday with a 1-3 away win at playoff contenders Altrincham.

The Magpies came back from 1 goal to go on to win the game 1-3 which was crucial in terms of the league table and saw them pull closer to safety.

With their gaffer Alan Devonshire one of the most experienced around, Maidenhead will certainly have an advantage on other teams in the relegation area, With Alan’s experience in these situations and keeping Maidenhead up season after season proving vital.

One of the worst attacks in the league but also one of the best defence’s Maidenhead will be a difficult team to beat. A win for the Magpies at Mill Farm pulls them even closer to safety whereas a defeat drags them right back into a relegation battle.

27th October 2018

Maidenhead United 0 vs 6 AFC Fylde

Once again the familiar theme of penalties and red cards carried on this fixture with the away side this time benefitting. Fylde led early through the ever present Danny Rowe who managed to tuck the ball in from a Zaine Francis Angol cross.

However in the 25th minute things got worse for Maidenhead when a horror challenge from Christian Smith on Ryan Croasdale got the deserved red card. Things then went from bad to worse for the magpies as they conceded a penalty which Rowe once again dispatched.

The Coasters really turned the style on in the second half with Gime Toure, Serhat Tasdemir, Danny Philliskirk and Andy Bond all scoring and all benefitting from the brilliance off Joe Cardle who was unlucky not to find the net on this day.

Classic Clash:
This week’s classic clash comes from 2018 when the Coasters managed to stick 6 goals past the Magpies. But, once again the familiar theme of penalties and red cards carried on this fixture with the away side this time benefitting.

Fylde led early through the ever-present Danny Rowe who managed to tuck the ball in from a Zaine Francis Angol cross.

Key Players:

Reece Smith – A creative midfielder with an eye for a goal is a key player for the Magpies and keeping him fit will be key to staying up in the national league. 8 goals in the league this season and a consistent player in the middle of the park, Smith certainly has a big future.

Kevin Lokko – Another piece of smart business from the magpies was securing the services of Lokko following his departure from Farnborough Fc. A strong defender with bags of experience at this level, could be one of Maidenhead’s key men this season. A main starter at most of his previous clubs, Lokko offers something other defenders don’t have and could cause Fylde a problem.

Casey Petit  – Another midfielder with bags of potential is Petit, has been a major part of Maidenhead’s squad this season after his summer move from Lewes. At only 21, Petit has a big future and if he carries on like he’s doing at the moment, Maidenhead will struggle to keep hold of him.
