AFC Fylde’s next game is a home fixture against bottom of the league AFC Telford United this Saturday at Kellamergh Park (3pm KO).

The Coasters face Telford on the back of four straight victories and they now have eight wins from their last ten games in all competitions. Fylde advanced to the third round of FA Cup qualifying last weekend as they saw off former Football League side Stockport County at Kellamergh Park and before that, The Coasters defeated both FC United of Manchester and Boston United without conceding. More recently, The Coasters swept aside Radcliffe Borough in the Lancs FA Trophy first round on Tuesday night, winning 5-2 at KP.

Fylde have had a great start to the league season and they find themselves in a familiar position of second in the table, having amassed twenty-three points from their opening eleven fixtures.  The recent addition of Akil Wright on loan from Fleetwood Town bolstered the squad for the Boston United victory, and the added good news about Coasters top scorer Dion Charles’ new contract only helps add to the positively around AFC Fylde at present. This fixture comes at a good time for The Coasters as they face bottom of the table Telford who where relegated from the Conference Premier last season.

The Bucks will be less than happy with their start to the season, as they sit rock bottom of the National League North table on just five points from their opening ten games. Their only victory came on Bank Holiday Monday at the end of August, a 2-0 home win over Brackley Town. Before that win, they lost five on the bounce and since the win they’ve lost two and drawn one in the league, as well as being knocked out of the FA Cup last weekend by lower league Kettering Town.

Relegated from the Conference Premier last season, The Bucks have only won five competitive league games since March 10th. To put it into perspective, The Coasters have won thirteen games since March 10th, albeit in the National League North. Telford won this division two seasons ago, but they will struggle to win the league this time around given their poor start and will likely be in a relegation fight for the second consecutive season. The Bucks have leff-back Sean Clancy, once of Blackpool, in their side as well as ex Hednesford Town forward Danny Glover and ex Northern Ireland international, Johnny Gorman. Dave Hibbert once moved to Shrewsbury for £75,000 in 2007, while Mason Springthorpe came through Everton’s youth academy.

These two sides have only met once in previous history before this Saturday’s fixture, with The Coasters running out 4-0 victors over the Bucks last season in the FA Trophy at Kellamergh Park. Danny Rowe grabbed a brace in that game and he also grabbed a brace midweek against Radcliffe Borough, so he will be looking to make it a hattrick of braces for The Coasters.
