An exclusive apprenticeship programme delivered by AFC Fylde Community Foundation continues to go from strength to strength, with two new members recently welcomed to the team.

Now in its second year, the programme has been achieving remarkable results. One apprentice, Jordan Kilgallon, worked his way through the ranks to be offered his dream job as a full-time coach with the Foundation.

Now Ryan Tucker and Tom Preston are hoping to follow in his footsteps as the latest recruits.

They are going to be involved on a full-time basis within the Foundation, working towards achieving a Level 3 qualification in PE Coaching in Schools. At the same time, they’ll be shadowing Foundation coaches out in the community to help them understand the principles of the role as well as gain hands-on experience.

Ryan has been with the Community Foundation for more than a year and has already scored an impressive first. He became the first-ever scholar to successfully complete the Foundation’s nationally recognised Futsal scholarship programme. Now he will continue his personal development by progressing through the apprenticeship scheme.

Foundation Director Tom Hutton is delighted to have welcomed the two new apprentices to his team and is excited about what lies ahead for both in terms of experience and opportunities.

He said: “Our apprenticeship programme is a fantastic scheme. It offers young adults the chance to develop into a full-time coach through a structured programme that involves education and practical experience shadowing other coaches.

“We aim to give the apprentices a memorable and fulfilling experience within our organisation and I’m confident the two guys will be a resounding success and go on to achieve great things.”
