AFC Fylde get their pre-season programme under way on Thursday evening when League One outfit Fleetwood Town make the short journey to Kellamergh Park.

This fixture will be the first of any kind in the 2015-16 fixture calendars for both of these sides as The Coasters and The Cod Army begin their preparations for the new season

This will be the second meeting between the two clubs, with the first coming in November 2010 in the Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy which resulted in a 3-1 away victory at Highbury for Fylde thanks to goals from Kevin Townson, Matty Kay and Michael Barnes. Since then, these two sides have not met and due to the locality of the teams, there is great expectation surrounding the match.

The Coasters will have new signings Dom Collins and Matty Hughes available, with the latter joining from Thursday opponents Fleetwood last month. Richie Allen is a former Fleetwood Town player now plying his trade at Fylde and he could feature in this game too, along with last season’s top scorer Danny Rowe, player of the season Josh Langley and the reliable Ben Hinchliffe in goal.

Fleetwood new signings Declan McManus, Amari’i Bell, Vamara Sanogo and Jimmy Ryan could all feature along with mainstays Antoni Sarcevic, Jamie Proctor and Nathan Pond, who is entering his twelfth season at the club. Under boss Graham Alexander, Fleetwood finished tenth in League One last season which is their highest ever Football League finish, and they will be looking to make the next step by reaching at least the play-offs this season.
