SECOND placed AFC Fylde face two crucial home games in the space of four days this weekend as their National League North season begins to take shape.

A 3-1 away win at Gloucester City at the weekend saw the Coasters climb up to second in the table after their fifth win in eight games.

Manager Dave Challinor said: “We played well and put on a good performance and overall we fully deserved to win.

“They (Gloucester) had a spell in the second half and put us under a bit of pressure without looking like we would concede. We allowed them to put us under pressure with a couple of free kicks.

“I felt we scored some good goals and put on a decent performance to take us into the weekend.”

Challinor was pleased for Matty Blinkhorn (pictured) and Danny Rowe to be back on the scoresheet together and he is looking for the pair to use their experience this season.

He added: “We need to be scoring goals to be successful this season and it was good for Blinks and Rowey to be finding the net again.”

One player who won’t be hitting the target for the Coasters is striker Jason St Juste whose spell at Kellamergh Park has ended.

After joining late last month from North Ferriby, the striker has moved closer to home with Bradford Park Avenue.

Challinor said: “Bradford enquired before Bank Holiday about signing him but at the time, we didn’t have enough players due to injuries.

“The move is ten minutes from his house for training and it made sense for all of us.”

The Coasters boss is on the hunt for defenders following an injury to Dom Collins to add to the already absent Adam Sumner and Josh Langley.

Collins injured his foot at the weekend and is a doubt for this weekend, but will join his injured colleagues on the treatment table this week under the watchful eye of physio Steve Jackson.

Challinor said: “We are massively short on defenders, but the lads who have come in have done well. I am on the lookout but as ever I won’t bring people in just for the sake of it and they have to be of the quality we require at the club.”

AFC Fylde are back in action at Kellamergh Park on Saturday when Tamworth are the visitors. (3pm)
