AFC Fylde can confirm that the club’s all time leading goalscorer Richie Allen has been placed on the transfer list.

The decision comes following the opening day defeat at Solihull Moors in which the player was sent off early in the game for a deliberate handball.

Commenting on the decision, manager Dave Challinor said: “After much deliberation, we have had to make a really tough decision but one that we feel is in the best interests of everyone at the club.

“Richie is a fans’ favourite, has undoubted ability and on his day is a match winner but like many players of quality, has his flaws.

“He’s had countless opportunities and warnings and unfortunately he’s failed to heed these and this has begun to effect other players in the dressing room.

“Our dressing room is close knit and it is our responsibility as a management team to keep the harmony in there. He’ll be a loss on the pitch but no one is bigger or more important than the club and a fresh start for everyone is the best course of action.”

The player will be made available for permanent transfer or a loan, subject to a deal being agreed.
