Fylde Ladies have progressed into the next round of The Women’s FA Cup, after winning away at Sunderland Ladies.

In an all National League North showdown, Fylde showed their grit to down Sunderland 3-1 as two strikes in the first half sunk the Black Cats.

First, captain Danielle Young led by example by lashing in a free-kick to slot the opener after 13 minutes, before teammate Sophie Charlton tapped in on the stroke of half-time to double the lead.

Substitute Katie Barker reduced the deficit with a cross turned shot late on, but Fylde restored their two-goal advantage in added time as Emily Hollinshead tucked home to ensure her side’s progression.

In the next round, Fylde Ladies will be on the road again, as they head to Keynsham Ladies.
