Nick Haughton has joined the club on a permanent deal from fellow National League side Salford City.

The creative midfielder kick-started his career when he joined Fleetwood Town in 2014, Haughton went on to make 40 appearances with the Cod Army before enjoying loan spells at Nantwich Town and Salford City.

At the start of the 2017/18 season, Haughton was loaned to Chorley where he scored 13 goals in 25 appearances, his form caught the attention of The Ammies and he made a permanent move to Salford City in January 2018.

Haughton commented:

‘I had some good times at Salford, it’s been difficult for me this season, but I am happy to be joining a club that is going places, the facilities and the ground here are really good.’

‘Add to that the team are doing well in the league and it feels like a perfect fit.’

When asked what he feels he can bring to the side Haughton said:

‘I would really like to help and bring in a few goals, I scored a few last season at Chorley so hopefully, I can replicate that form.’

When asked about the new signing Manager Dave Challinor said:

‘Nick is someone we have liked for a long time, even back to when he was at Fleetwood. He has had some good loan spells which put him on the radar of bigger clubs and Salford eventually did a deal to take him away from Fleetwood.’

‘As soon as he became available we were keen to get a deal done and I am happy we have managed to get it over the line’.

Haughton goes straight into the squad and will be available for selection at tomorrows game away to Maidenhead United.
