This weekend we travel to Derbyshire to face Chesterfield in what is a massive game for both sides – with both sitting in the relegation zone.

Defeat at home to Torquay last weekend has left the Coasters three points from safety, although, Fylde have two games in hand against Sutton United and Notts County.

Jim Bentley has had his side boosted this week as striker Jamie Proctor has joined on-loan from Rotherham United until the end of the season.

Matty Kosylo will return from suspension, whilst Kurt Willoughby has moved to York on loan for a month.

The Opposition

Name: Chesterfield F.C.

Form: WWLLD

Nickname: The Spireites

Ground: Proact Stadium

League Position: 21st

A mid-table finish last season in the National League set Chesterfield up to push on this season and look for a return to the Football League after relegation in 2017/18.

That, however, has not gone to plan for the Spireites. They find themselves sitting in the relegation zone just one place and three points ahead of the Coasters.

A win on Saturday will see Chesterfield go six points clear of the Coasters and although it might not lift them out of the relegation zone, it will see them pull clear, knowing we have two games in hand.

In charge of the Spireites is newly appointed Caretaker Manager, John Pemberton. John was appointed caretaker manager of Chesterfield in January 2020 after John Sheridan was sacked.

Pemberton was previously at Kidderminster Harriers before resigning, and is now in his secondspell as caretaker manager of the Spireites, after doing so in 2018/19.

One To Watch

Tom Denton

With star man Mike Fondop-Talom missing out due to suspension, the one to watch this week is Tom Denton.

The lofty striker has been in the thorn in the side for the Coasters in the past, and his physical presence will no doubt be relied upon for the Spireites.

He may only have returned four goals in the league this year, but after opening the scoring in their win at Eastleigh last week, will be full of confidence.

Scott Boden will likely partner him in attack, and will be looking to take his league tally to ten goals.

Head-to-Head

This will be the fourth time the two sides have met – with the Coasters yet to win against the Spireites.
