AFC Fylde Women begin their adventure in this season’s Women’s FA Cup on Sunday when they entertain Durham Cestria at Kellamergh Park.

This First Round Proper tie will be played on Sunday 12th November, with kick-off at the earlier time of 1.00 pm.

Jack Garside’s Coasters will be looking to go as far as possible in this famous competition, and they start with the visit of Durham Cestria for their second successive meeting with the North-East side in the space of a fortnight.

As a third-tier club, AFC Fylde Women enter the Women’s FA Cup at the First Round Proper, while fourth-tier Durham Cestria have already had to get through a previous round, in which they defeated Bolton Wanderers Women at Maiden Castle in late October.

Last time out, Fylde played host to Durham Cestria in the Second Round of the FAWNL Cup. The Coasters raced into a 3-0 lead in the first half through Beth Strutton’s opener and two goals from Ginny Lackey. The visitors reduced the deficit in the second half courtesy of a brace from Alisha Mainwaring.

However, Fylde soon added a fourth when Lackey completed her hat-trick with a superb team goal to make it 4-2. As a result, the Coasters secured their passage to the Quarter Final of the FAWNL Cup.

Last weekend, the Coasters were scheduled to play a league game away to Stoke City Women, but the fixture was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Norton Sports Club.

As for their next opponents, Durham Cestria returned to winning ways last Sunday with a solid 2-0 win at home to Doncaster Rovers Belles. A brace from Ella Rowell helped Cestria on their way to all three points.

In the meantime, the Coasters have been putting in some quality time on the training ground in preparation for this Sunday’s big game. Supporters are encouraged to come along to Kellamergh Park to push the team towards victory and a place in the next round.
