AFC Fylde manager Dave Challinor could not hide his delight after his side picked up their first National League victory of the season at Hartlepool United.

Goals from Henry Jones and Danny Rowe secured a convincing 2-0 victory over the former Football League side and Challinor believes it will do his squad the world of good.

Challinor said: “I’m delighted. It’s been a little bit longer coming than we would have hoped for but it was thoroughly deserved.

“We have deserved to win games before this but we haven’t managed it so to finally put that to bed is a huge boost.

“The players will benefit an awful lot from it too because they have worked their socks off for this.

“Little lapses in concentration at the back have been punished so far this season but we dug in and huge credit to the lads to come to a place like this and put in a really good performance.

“It was a convincing win that could have been even more so had we been a bit more clinical, particularly in the first half.

“We have to recover now and back it up on tomorrow in front of the TV cameras in what is another massive opportunity for us.”
