AFC Fylde boss Dave Challinor believes his side were unfortunate to come away from yesterday’s match at Tamworth empty handed.

The Coasters were beaten for the first time in the National League North this season and Challinor thought his troops deserved more.

“We’re disappointed to lose but did we deserve to lose? No I don’t think that we did. I think that we did more than enough to get something out of the game. It was just one of those games for us.

“No matter how hard we tried, we just couldn’t get a break. They’ve defended well and got in blocks and things like that but like I say, we created lots of situations, lots of opportunities but we just couldn’t stick the ball in the net.

“Sometimes that happens. I suppose if we’re being ultra-critical, the one thing you’ve got to do is make sure that you come away with a nil-nil. Again, we haven’t done our job from a free-kick and that’s ultimately cost us the game.

“I thought we were solid, we’ve just been undone by one free-kick. From their perspective, it’s a decent ball in but you have to defend it and the lads gone and got a toe on it and put them in front. We are expansive in the way we play and we have lots of attacking players on the pitch but that can’t be at the detriment of keeping the ball out of our net.

“We’ll brush ourselves down. We weren’t daft enough to think that we’d go the whole season undefeated. You hope the end of one run is the start of another. We’ll do everything we can this make to make sure that we’re fully prepared to go and win next weekend.”
