AFC Fylde will play in the National League North next season, a division the Coasters were promoted from as champions in the 2016/17 season.

We take a look at next season’s opponents, as Jim Bentley and his side look to secure promotion back to the National League.

Our next team ‘under review’, is Blyth Spartans.

2019/20 League Position:

Star Player 19/20:

Rhys Evans – The right back made the step up several divisions to join Blyth from Newcastle Benfield last year and has flourished since. Known for his attacking ability as much as his defensive work, Spartans will be expecting big things from the 23-year-old this season.

Michael Nelson – 40 year old Nelson is player-manager with the Spartans following the departure of former boss Lee Clark. The centre back has a wealth of football league experience, most of which was spent with fellow North East club Hartlepool United. This will be Nelson’s first experience as a manager alongside his playing role.

Last Played:

The last meeting between the sides was a resounding 5-1 victory for the Coasters back in April 2014 with goals from Michael Barnes, Harry Winter, Danny Lloyd (2) and Joey Mullen.

Last Played Home: 16/04/14 – AFC Fylde 5-1 Blyth Spartans

Last Played Away: 01/03/14 – Blyth Spartans 1-1 AFC Fylde
