Rhys Evans – The right back made the step up several divisions to join Blyth from Newcastle Benfield last year and has flourished since. Known for his attacking ability as much as his defensive work, Spartans will be expecting big things from the 23-year-old this season.

Manager:

Michael Nelson – 40 year old Nelson is player-manager with the Spartans following the departure of former boss Lee Clark. The centre back has a wealth of football league experience, most of which was spent with fellow North East club Hartlepool United. This will be Nelson’s first experience as a manager alongside his playing role.

The last meeting between the sides was a resounding 5-1 victory for the Coasters back in April 2014 with goals from Michael Barnes, Harry Winter, Danny Lloyd (2) and Joey Mullen.
