AFC Fylde’s host Gainsborough Trinity in their third league game of the season so far – their second at home this week.
The Coasters saw off Hednesford Town on Tuesday night, and on Saturday they welcome Gainsborough to Kellamergh Park looking for their second win of the season. (3pm)
Trinity have started the season with a draw and a defeat, which is exactly how they ended the previous National North season. On the opening day they drew 1-1 at home at Worcester City, before losing 3-1 away at Harrogate Town on Tuesday evening. Trinity will be looking for their first three points of the season when they travel to Kellamergh Park. Gainsborough haven’t won a competitive fixture since April 11th earlier this year when they beat Stockport County 3-1 away from home.
Last season, Fylde took four points from their two fixtures against Gainsborough and won this fixture 2-1 at Kellamergh Park thanks to goals from Danny Rowe and Richie Allen, with Darryn Stamp getting a late consolation for the away side. At The Northholme in the return fixture, The Coasters came away with a point after a 0-0 draw on a tough surface.
TEAM NEWS
Matty Hughes could feature after recovering from his toe injury sustained at Nantwich during pre-season.
Danny Lloyd made his first start of the season on Tuesday evening and scored the second goal, so he will be hoping for another start on Saturday. Cory Bent featured in the previous game against Hednesford Town and could feature again from the bench. The Coasters will be looking to take another three points from the game and cement their place in the top five for the time being.
Trinity have a similar squad to that of last season, with Dane Jan Budtz in goal and Dominic Roma as captain. Ex Northern-Ireland man Ciaran Toner is still about, while Darryn Stamp combines his playing time with the assistant manager’s job. Stamp has been around the non-league circuit for a number of years and other teammates include Jake Picton, Chris Salt and Charlie Binns.
