The AFC Fylde Community Foundation are continuously looking to develop new and exciting initiatives, which benefit the whole of the Fylde Coast. As part of this commitment The Foundation, led by its Director Tom Hutton, continuously look to form positive partnerships with local charities, strengthening links with communities and enhancing opportunities through increased knowledge and resources.
A part of this commitment, The Foundation have recently formed a positive partnership with local Charity ‘N-Compass’, who provide a range of support services throughout Lancashire for adults and young people who suffer from a range of mental health conditions.
Nationally, it has been well documented that sports participation increases participant’s self-esteem, confidence and overall mental health and wellbeing. Through partnership working with ‘N-Compass’, The Foundation’s highly acclaimed Health and Wellbeing department are currently planning the delivery of The Fylde Coasts first adult mental health sports and activity programme.
The programme, delivered in partnership with various local support groups and national funding partners, will provide Fylde Coast residents who suffer with a range of complex mental health conditions, with the opportunity to take part in safe, structured and well planned sports project, additionally providing participants with the opportunity to make friends and increase support links across The Fylde Coast.
Through the Foundation’s affiliation with AFC Fylde Football Club, participants who show a desire to take part in additional football opportunities, will be provided with the opportunity to join the Fylde Coasts first adult ‘Ability Counts’ mental health football team, providing inclusive access to competitive football fixtures, for adults with a range of mental health conditions.
