The AFC Fylde Community Foundation working in partnership with the European Union Social Fund have over the past six months delivered a range of tailored adult education programmes to adults who live throughout the Fylde Coast and are looking to gain employment in various industries.

The programme which engaged with a total of 480 participants over a 6 month period, received fantastic success rates, with 88% of participants taking part in the programme receiving final interviews and gaining part or full time jobs following participation in the adult learning programme.

The AFC Fylde Community Foundation are committed to making positive changes in many Fylde Coast residents lives, and are able to do this through adopting a different approach to adult learning than previously demonstrated. This difference, which is centred around developing personalised learning plans, allows participants to take part in projects which meet their desired personal requirements, allowing each participant to receive tailored training which provides best possible employment opportunities, which leads to employment both part and full time.

Both The Foundation’s Director Tom Hutton, and the European Union Social Fund who funded the project were overjoyed with the success rates of this programme, with such a high number of participants gaining employment following the project.

Following the success of this programme, The AFC Fylde Community Foundation are currently working with a number of partners to gain commissions to continue adult learning and young people educational opportunities for the following 12 months. These new projects will be wholly self-referral with residents throughout Blackpool Wyre and Fylde provided with the opportunity to nominate themselves for a range of free community courses based within their communities.
