On Thursday afternoon, members of AFC Fylde’s first-team squad and management staff surprised children at two local primary schools by delivering presents for our Fylde Kids Christmas Gift Appeal.
Pupils at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and Strike Lane Primary School got the opportunity to meet their Coasters heroes as the lads headed out into the local community to meet the youngsters.
This year’s Fylde Kids Christmas Gift Appeal has supported 417 children in 19 local primary schools across Fylde.
During this week, presents have been dropped off the gifts to local schools who identified pupils who would benefit from the Fylde Kids Christmas Gift Appeal.
We have worked closely alongside Fylde Council, Fylde Rugby Community Foundation, and iHope to spread some Christmas cheer in our local communities.
Assistant Head Coach, Andy Taylor, along with players Danny Philliskirk, Nick Haughton, Emeka Obi and Jon Ustabasi attended St Joseph’s, to see first-hand how AFC Fylde Community Foundation has ensured vulnerable children and families can enjoy the Festive Period.
Elsewhere, Interim Head Coach, Chris Beech, Connor Barrett, Owen Evans, Joe Rowley and Luke Charman visited Strike Lane.
All the presents that have been generously donated by businesses and individuals in our community have now been distributed to local children.
Coasters midfielder Philliskirk is proud to support this year’s Fylde Kids Christmas Gift Appeal, and praised the important work of the club’s official charity.
He said: “It’s amazing really, to see how many people are being supported, it’s brilliant from the Community Foundation.
“There’s vulnerable people out there who aren’t as lucky as others, and as a group and a club, we have all got to realise that.
“We want to help as many people as we can in our community, and it’s great to see the great work that the Community Foundation does behind the scenes.”
