AFC Fylde are delighted to announce the signing of Tom Walker from Salford City for an undisclosed fee.

The 24 year old joins the Coasters on a two and a half year contract.

The attacker began his career at Bolton Wanderers, making 18 appearances in the Championship, scoring away at Wigan Athletic in his fourth game for the club.

Walker joined Bury on loan in League One, before spells at Stockport County and FC United preceded a move to Salford City.

He was part of the Ammies side that won promotion at Wembley at the Coasters expense, but was an unused sub in the play off final.

Coasters boss Jim Bentley was delighted to get the deal over the line, and conclude his first permanent signing as manager.

“He’s quite adaptable, he can play out wide, he can play in the 10, he can play in the three-man midfield,” said Bentley.

“He’s one of them that can play anywhere and that’s another real positive for us that he’s not just a one trick pony.

Walker made five appearances for Salford this season before joining Stockport County on-loan for his second spell.

He scored five goals for the Hatters in 15 appearances – including a fantastic free-kick at Mill Farm which inspired Stockport’s second half turnaround.

“I like to get on the ball and make things happen.”

“It’s a club going forward, you can see the ambition to be in the Football League – I’ve done it with Salford, so hopefully I can do it here as well.”

“I’ve had a few conversations with Jim, he’s been keen to sign me and I’m really looking forward to working with him.”

“I’m attacking minded, comfortable on both wings – I like to get on the ball and make things happen.”

Walker will not be available for the Coasters FA Trophy campaign, having appeared for Stockport County already in the competition.

Tom will wear the number #20 for the Coasters, and is available for Tuesday’s league visit of Notts County.

Tickets for the game can be bought in the club shop, and online.
