It takes all kinds of people to make a community. And similarly all kinds of programmes to make the AFC Fylde Community Foundation the runaway success it is.

Inclusion and involvement are two key priorities for the team at the Foundation, ensuring we deliver projects to meet the needs of everyone – irrespective of age, gender, or ability.

The Foundation are currently working very closely with Pear Tree School, running and delivering activities for pupils of all ages. Nathan Davies, Senior Physical Activity Officer for the Foundation, visits Pear Tree every week providing a diverse range of sessions, including the popular ‘Try Golf’ programme.

The Foundation also work with and support Fylde Day Care Services delivering inclusion programmes carefully devised to ensure everybody has an equal opportunity to participate, whatever challenges they may face.

Moving forward there are many plans in the pipeline for the Foundation to further strengthen the partnership work across the local community. Currently in the development stages is an innovative idea to provide dance and drama opportunities for those with disabilities or special needs.

Foundation Director Tom Hutton said: “I am really proud at how we are breaking down barriers in terms of making sports and physical activity sessions available to everybody across the Fylde Coast.

“It’s great working with Pear Tree School and Fylde Day Care Services. Everyone at the Foundation takes great  pride in being able to provide all inclusive, multi-sports sessions that the whole community can enjoy and participate in. It’s something I’m looking forward to further developing so that we can provide even more fun-packed programmes in the future.”
