Promising young players from Heyhouses Primary School had a sneak peek into their footballing futures with a match day experience at AFC Fylde.

The AFC Fylde Community Foundation invited the young footballers to experience the club’s match day hospitality on Saturday 27 February. The day involved lots of footballing fun, including games and ball skills on the pitch before the match and during half time.

The young hopefuls also scored a meet and greet with the team and got the opportunity to present the match ball at the start of the game, between AFC Fylde and Alfreton Town.

Heyhouses Primary School is one of the club’s match ball sponsors. Cheryl Holland, Year 6 teacher at the school, said: “The children had such a great day training with the AFC Fylde coaches and meeting the team. It was a real honour to present the match ball at the beginning at the game – I’m sure that’s a memory they’ll cherish for a long time to come.

“Getting to play on such a fantastic pitch was an opportunity for them to see how their footballing futures could progress if they work hard and stay focused on their dreams. We’re all really thankful to the AFC Fylde Community Foundation for inviting us down and working tirelessly to make it a day to remember.”

Tom Hutton, director of community development at the AFC Fylde Community Foundation, said: “Having the kids from Heyhouses down for match day was an absolute pleasure. There is certainly some very promising young talent there and we’re excited to see what the future holds for them. Who knows if we’ll be welcoming any of them back as the footballing stars of the future one day.”
