AFC Fylde star Danny Rowe could not hide his delight after picking up the prestigious Player of the Year award for the National League North.

The striker, who goes in search of his half-century strike of the season this afternoon, will be presented with his trophy ahead of the final home match against Worcester City.

Rowe said: “Obviously it’s a great honour and achievement on a personal level. It has been my best ever season in terms of goals and by far and away exceeded what I had aimed for at the start of the campaign.

“However, even more importantly, those goals have helped towards us reaching our ultimate goal of promotion out of this league.

“We set our number one target at the beginning of the season and to have reached it with a game to spare is fantastic. It now allows us to really enjoy tomorrow and put on a show. It also takes the pressure off after a tense few weeks.

“We would have liked to get it wrapped up sooner than we did but the important thing is that we have done it now.

“Over the course of the season we were deserved champions and now we get the chance to celebrate with our own fans on the final day so it has worked out perfectly in that sense.

“Next season will be another challenge but we are ready for it and hopefully I can keep finding the back of the net on a regular basis.”
