Emirates FA Cup second round replay

The Coasters make the short trip down the M6 tomorrow evening for our FA Cup second round replay against Wigan Athletic.

The two sides went head-to-head in front of the live TV cameras little over a week ago playing out a 1-1 draw at Mill Farm – Danny Rowe’s penalty cancelling out Will Grigg’s first-half opener.

The winner of the tie will face Premier League side AFC Bournemouth on Saturday 6th January in the third round of the competition.

After a run of seven wins from nine in all competitions, the Coasters suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at Boreham Wood over the weekend.

Angelo Balanta’s solitary strike sealed the points for the hosts, however Fylde will have felt slightly hard done by after passing up several glorious chances to equalise.

The defeat leaves the Coasters in 17th place in the National League table with three games in hand on the majority of other clubs.

Wigan currently lead the way in League One after three straight victories, most recently a 2-0 home win over Fleetwood Town.

The Latics are four points ahead of second-placed Shrewsbury Town in the league standings after 20 games as they continue their promotion push.

Nick Powell – a late substitute at Mill Farm in the original tie – will be one-to-watch having bagged eight goals so far this season.

His opposite number Danny Rowe will also be looking to add to his 15 strikes this term – four of which have come in the FA Cup – when his side arrive at the DW Stadium.

Team news:
Full-back Luke Burke, on loan from Wigan, and Andy Mangan are ineligible whilst central defender George Edmundson is suspended after picking up his fifth booking of the season at Boreham Wood.
