The Coasters could not have started life in the Vanarama Conference North any better on Saturday, thumping Brackley Town 4-0 and sitting pretty at the top of the table after the opening day.
There’s still an awful lot of football to be played and Dave Challinor’s men will no doubt come up against much sterner oposition than they did at the weekend but there was plenty of positives that came out of that performance which will make other teams in this division sit up and take note.
Challinor will be pleased that his three new signinings in Michael Potts, Danny Rowe and Tom Hannigan, that were given their first competative starts in Fylde shirts performed excellently with Potts even getting on the score sheet with the first goal.
But even Fylde favourites such as Richie Allen and Joe Booth were magnificent in their work and will both be delighted to start the season with goals of their own.
So looking forward to their next game on Tuesday night, the lads will feel that they can mix it at this level and will go to Bower Fold confident of making it two wins fom two in their first two games.
Their oponents didn’t start as well as The Coasters did on Saturday. They travelled down to Worcester City and played out a 2-2 draw giving them a solitary point from their opening fixture.
But this will be Keith Briggs side’s first home game of the new season and will be desparate to get up and running with their first victory.
The game gets underway at 7:45pm on Tuesday evening. Admission is just £12 for adults, £1 for children under 14 who are accompanied with an adult and £7 for concessions so come along and get behind the lads for what could be a tough first away game at Step 2.
