Skelmersdale United vs AFC Fylde

Tuesday 5th December, 2016 (kick-off 7:45pm)

Messenger Express Stadium

FA Trophy first round replay

AFC Fylde will be hoping it’s fourth time lucky tomorrow evening when they face Skelmersdale United at the Messenger Express Stadium.

The two clubs were drawn together in the first round of the competition over a month ago, but the original meeting between the sides was postponed due to a water-logged pitch at Kellamergh Park, whilst the rearranged tie ended in a thrilling 4-4 draw.

The hosts had led the match 3-0 through goals from Danny Rowe (2) and Danny Lloyd, but a remarkable second-half saw Skelmersdale score four goals in less than 20 minutes.

However, Rowe earned a replay in the dying moments when he tapped in his hat-trick at the back post.

The replay was due to take place a fortnight ago in Skelmersdale, but again the weather wreaked havoc and the match was called off.

Dave Challinor’s side suffered defeat in the following two league matches against Solihull Moors and Curzon Ashton, however they were back to winning ways at the weekend with a superb 1-0 victory over local rivals Chorley.

Challinor welcomed back Tom Hannigan, Richie Baker and Danny Lloyd to the starting line-up against the Magpies, but the Coasters are still missing bodies.

Matty Hughes, Brad Barnes, James Hardy and Matt Urwin all missed the visit of Chorley and tomorrow evening’s match may come a few days too soon for the quartet.

Skelmersdale are currently hovering dangerously above the relegation zone in the Evo-Stik Premier Division following a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Sutton Coldfield Town on Saturday, however they have games in hand on all four teams below them.

The winners of tomorrow evening’s tie will face the long trip to Eastbourne Borough in the second round of the competition.
