Curzon Ashton v AFC Fylde

Tameside Stadium

Vanarama National League North

AFC Fylde will look to maintain their nine-point lead at the top of the Vanarama National League North as they travel to the Tameside Stadium to take on Curzon Ashton.

Dave Challinor’s men established their biggest lead at the summit so far this season after their 3-1 win over FC United of Manchester whilst second-placed Kidderminster Harriers were beaten 3-0 at Salford City.

This game marks the start of three matches in seven days for Fylde with the rearranged match against Alfreton Town scheduled for Tuesday 24th January before next Saturday’s home match against Altrincham.

Coasters top scorer Danny Rowe is currently on a run of three games without a goal but scored a hat-trick against Curzon in September’s 4-1 win at Mill Farm. Bohan Dixon scored the Coasters’ other goal on the night.

Fylde haven’t been short of fire power without Rowe’s goals however, with Dom Collins, Brendon Daniels, Andy Bond, Matty Hughes and Dan Bradley (twice) all scoring for the Coasters so far in 2017.

Curzon meanwhile find themselves 16th in the table, five points above the relegation zone. They have also lost star striker Adam Morgan to Halifax Town after the former Liverpool forward scored a hat-trick in the Nash’s dramatic 4-3 FA Cup Second Round defeat against AFC Wimbledon.

The hosts have recovered well from a poor start to the season. They recorded three league wins in a row between November and December including wins over Halifax and Harrogate Town before a run of just one win in five games.

John Flanagan’s men welcomed back Matty Warburton this week following his release from Salford City having left the club in the summer.

Curzon drew 1-1 with fellow strugglers Worcester City on Monday night to record their first point in three games. They go into their match against the Coasters having won only two home games all season.

Injury news:
Rowe is set to overcome a knock he suffered against FC United to start for the Coasters. Challinor has no fresh injury concerns ahead of a busy week.
