It’s been a mixed few days for AFC Fylde.

After progressing to the FA Trophy final, and then being beaten by league leaders Leyton Orient on Tuesday, a trip to Aldershot Town awaits Dave Challinor’s side.

Fylde will be looking to make it two wins in three away games when they face the Shots and build momentum going into the last seven games.

The Opposition

Name: Aldershot Town

Form: LLLWL

Nickname: The Shots

Ground: The EBB Stadium at the Recreation Ground

League Position: 22nd

This season has been a tough one for Aldershot Town. They have won a total of nine games all season and lost a staggering 24. Compared to last season’s play-off place finish, this hasn’t gone to plan.

The Shots have struggled to find any real consistency this season and have not been able to put any sort of winning run together.

Managing the side is Garry Waddock. After steering them to the playoffs last year, he has seen his side struggle.

This weekend presents a chance to cause a league upset and catch points up on the teams outside the relegation zone.

One To Watch

Adam McDonnell

This week’s one to watch is Adam McDonnell. McDonnell has played in most of Aldershot’s games and is a vital cog in their midfield.

The Englishmen has scored six goals this season in his 32 games, with his most recent goal coming in the away defeat to Barrow, where the Shots lost 2-1 to the Bluebirds.

Although McDonnell isn’t a prolific goal scorer, he does chip in from midfield and plays an important role in the Shots’ midfield, and Fylde will need to be aware of him in the early kick-off this Saturday.

Head-to-Head

The two sides have met three times with Fylde winning two of them, including an emphatic 7-1 win at Mill Farm.
