AFC Fylde v Gloucester City

Saturday 3rd September, 2016, k/o 3pm

Mill Farm

Vanarama National League North

A week after securing their first ever win at Mill Farm, Fylde welcome Gloucester City as they look to remain top of the Vanarama National League North.

The Coasters went top following last week’s dramatic victory over Halifax Town and reinforced their position with three points at Bradford Park Avenue on Bank Holiday Monday.

Danny Rowe scored a hat-trick against Bradford to take his season’s total ten goals in seven games already. The striker scored 24 league goals for the Coasters last season.

Steve Williams also netted in the win over Bradford, a third of the season already for the towering centre-back.

Fylde did the double over Gloucester last season. Goals from Matt Blinkhorn, Sam Finley and Rowe earned the points at Whadden Road before Danny Lloyd struck to win the reverse fixture at Kellamergh Park.

Gloucester have made a positive start to the season following a mid-table finish last year.

The visitors have 13 points from their opening six games but have a game in hand on all the sides above them.

One man Fylde will have to out for is Luke Hopper. The Gloucester frontman has already scored six goals this season to aid Gloucester early season push. Midfielder Ed Williams has scored three goals so far.

Gloucester have also been very busy in the transfer market over the summer bringing in more than half a dozen new recruits.

Those signings include defender Leroy Odiero from National League side Forest Green Rovers, Ethan Moore from Cinderford Town and former Cheltenham Town defender Jack Deaman.

This game promises to be an open encounter between two free-scoring teams.

Team news:
Goalkeeper Rhys Taylor is still out after injuring his calf in the win over Alfreton. Brendon Daniels will miss the next few games with a knee injury.
