Mill Farm

Vanarama National League

The Coasters are back on home soil this evening as Gateshead make their first visit to Mill Farm.

Dave Challinor’s side returned to winning ways in style at the weekend with a fantastic win over former Football League side Leyton Orient.

Danny Rowe opened the scoring at the Matchroom Stadium on Saturday with a powerful free-kick before doubling his tally shortly after the break with a 30-yard stunner.

Orient pulled one back late on and although Lewis Montrose was sent of for a second bookable offence late on, the Coasters held on for a precious three points.

Hotshot Rowe now has six goals to his name, just two short of league leader Dagenham forward Corey Whitley.

The win moved Fylde up a place in the National League table and they now sit in 19th position with a record of three victories, six draws and four defeats.

Tonight’s visitors Gateshead set their sights on the play-offs this season after narrowly missing out last term and currently find themselves in 14th place with 17 points.

Gateshead have claimed three points just once over the last five games – a 3-2 victory over struggling Chester – and are without a win in three.

Neil Aspin’s side looked on course for victory last time out after taking the lead against Boreham Wood, however Ricky Shakes’ late equaliser denied them maximum points.

The Coasters last met Gateshead back in February 2016 in the last 16 of the FA Trophy. There was little between the sides at the International Stadium however Ryan Bowman’s strike ensured The Heed progressed to the quarter-finals of the competition, where they were knocked out by eventual winners FC Halifax Town.
