AFC Fylde Dave Challinor hailed yesterday’s 1-0 victory over Dover Athletic as the ‘perfect away performance’.

Danny Rowe’s eleventh goal of the season secured an impressive three points on the South Coast and Challinor was left purring by his side’s display.

Challinor said: “I’m thrilled with the result. It’s a really, really tough place to come against a team that have a unique way of playing and pose a real threat.

“I suppose from our perspective it was the perfect away performance. We’ve had to defend really manfully from balls into our box and were reliant on Jay, who made two unbelievably good saves to keep the score level.

“The two centre-halves had a really good game, but you are reliant on everyone when the ball is going into your box so regularly. Jay is going to have to make saves and two in particular were outstanding. They were at important times too.

“The opportunities we got, one of them drops to Rowey and you wouldn’t have wanted anyone else in that position.

“Thankfully, as usual, he has stuck it away and we managed the game really well to see out the result.

“To come all this way against a team that are flying high in the division and win will do us no end of good.”
