AFC Fylde is thrilled to announce the signing of attacker Jon Ustabaşi on a permanent deal until the summer of 2024, subject to National League & FA clearance.
Signing a one-year deal, with the Club holding the option of a further year in its favour, Ustabaşi joins the Coasters as a free agent following the expiry of his contract with Chorley FC.
The 29-year-old arrives at Mill Farm having enjoyed one of his best seasons in English football, with the wide man notching 15 goals in the National League North for the Magpies throughout 22/23, including one against the Coasters on Boxing Day.
A pacey, exciting, attacking player, Ustabaşi spent several years in Turkey, the birthplace of his father, starting with Denizlispor U21s.
Jonathan was also on the books of Bursasport and FC Schkupi, to name a few, before making a return to England to sign for Stalybridge Celtic, where he spent two seasons ahead of a loan and then a permanent move to Chorley.
Excited about the addition of Jonathan, Director of Football Chirs Beech said: “Jonathan joins us off the back of a successful season with our neighbours Chorley FC, where he scored 15 goals in their 22/23 campaign.
“Jonathan, at 29, plays football like he’s 21 with a direct mentality, physicality, and speed, representing no fear when attacking his opponents with and without the ball, often covering the most kilometres and at the highest speeds in a game.
“His direct running, supported by an eye for goal, are attributes that will support our current attacking options, making us quicker overall in transition and harder to predict as a team.
“His work rate and high-pressing techniques will endear him to his teammates and supporters alike.
“After meeting and negotiating with him, and speaking with his father, Jonathan’s honest, humble and ambitious characteristics will help grow many friends here at AFC Fylde and fit right into the hardworking, honest culture we continue to cultivate.
“Our challenges next year grow stronger as we equip ourselves to deliver a better version of ourselves in a more challenging environment.
“I’m confident Jonathan will support and play a big part in adding to our squad qualities throughout the 23/24 National League campaign.”
Welcome to AFC Fylde, Jonathan!
