Exciting young winger arrives on loan from Sky Bet League One side, Blackpool FC.

We are delighted to announce that Nathan Shaw has joined AFC Fylde on a loan deal until January, with an option to extend the deal for the season.

The 19-year-old is a product of the Seasiders’ academy system and has showcased his talents both at youth and first team level for his boyhood club.

A left-footed, exciting attack-minded player, Shaw can also operate and has been deployed at full-back when needed to do so, offering versatility and cover for the Coasters in key positions.

The youngster has impressed when featuring in competitive action for Blackpool’s first team, with appearances in the EFL Trophy for the Tangerines, as well gaining a number of vital minutes during pre-season. This included game time in the trip to Anfield this summer where he faced Premier League Champions, Liverpool.

Upon joining the club, Shaw told afcfylde.co.uk: “It’s a club that’s going in the right direction, has great facilities, great management and everything around the club looks good.

“I hope I can bring goals and assists because I like playing further up the pitch in attacking positions, beating players and hopefully I can help us be right up there to try and get promoted.”

Jim Bentley was pleased to secure another important player in his squad, telling us: “He’s a player we’ve had highly recommended to us, both recently and towards the end of last season as well, if I am honest. He’s kicked on well during pre-season, playing quite a bit for Blackpool and doing well.

“He’s a wide player, who is athletic, good technically and has been playing quite a bit at left-back as well, so he will give us some versatility within the squad and shows us that he is happy to adapt to new positions and challenges. He’s young, fresh, energetic and we’re really pleased to have him on board with us.”
