AFC Fylde is delighted to announce the signing of striker Modou Faal from Sky Bet Championship Side West Bromwich Albion on a one-month loan deal.

The deal, which is inclusive of the Coasters’ New Year’s Day fixture against Chorley FC, sees Modou available ahead of the trip to Gloucester City on Saturday.

A bright, young talent, Mo arrives at Mill Farm having already featured in the National League North on several occasions during loan spells at Hereford FC and AFC Telford United.

Faal, who has previously worked with Adam Murray at Albion during the Ismaël era, was spotted playing local football before signing a scholarship at the Hawthorns when he was just 16 years old.

His signature on the dotted line allowed him to become a regular fixture in the Baggies’ Under-18s side during the 2021/22 season, with the 19-year-old enjoying a prolific season that saw him score seven goals.

After signing professional terms with the club in the summer of 2021, Mo was in clinical form during his first full term with the 23s – bagging five goals in the first two months of the campaign and ending the season on double figures in all competitions.

His goalscoring exploits that season earned him a call-up to first-team training under Valérien Ismaël, with the Frenchman later handing the attacker his first senior appearance when he brought him off the bench against Arsenal in August 2021.

On signing for the Coasters, Mo said: “I can’t wait to get started and play my first game for this Club.

“I’m delighted to have this opportunity to develop as a player and help push the team further up the table during a busy festive period.”

Head Coach Adam Murray added: “Mo is a player I have worked with before and is a young, hungry guy, who I know will add another ingredient to the very talented squad that we already have.”

Welcome to AFC Fylde, Mo!

Mo will wear the number 11 shirt during his time at Mill Farm.
