AFC Fylde came back from Whaddon Road with all three points after seeing off Gloucester City 3-1.

Gloucester started the better with Joe Parker runnning at the Fylde defence and dragging his shot
narrowly wide. After just nine minutes Dom Collins was taken off injured and was replaced by
Richie Baker and within two minutes the Coasters were infront. Danny Rowe was given the ball on
the left wing and chipped a cross over the Gloucester defence to Matt Blinkhorn who couldn’t miss
with a header from point blank range.

Dion Charles nearly doubled the lead when he found himself in space on the right hand side and
cut inside into the penalty area but his shot was well saved by Singh at the near post.
Gloucester equalised ten minutes later through former Colwyn Bay striker Obi Anoruo. A throw in
from the left hand side was flicked on by Liddiard into the path of Anoruo who lifted the ball
over Hinchliffe to the delight of the home crowd.

Their parity was only short lived though as the Coasters went back infront just seven minutes
later. Matt Blinkhorn was played through on goal but his first touch took him away from goal and
he turned and put in a low cross for Sam Finley to stab home into the bottom right corner from
six yards out.The home crowd were far from happy with the goal as they felt that Blinkhorn was
offside when he recieved the ball.

Danny Rowe nearly put Fylde 3-1 when he got past two Gloucester defenders and unleashed a
powerful shot on the edge of the box but the impressive Jas Singh tipped the ball over the bar
acrobatically.

The second half was more quiet but still had it’s talking points. Joe Parker was played in on
goal but his lobbed effort over Hinchliffe was cleared by Hannigan just in time. Danny Rowe had
two efforts saved by Singh, the first a powerful shot at the back post and the second a clever
flick at the near post from the resulting corner. Matty Hughes and Danny Lloyd came on for Dion
Charles and Ben Holmes respectively.

The Coasters sealed the win with a goal from Danny Rowe on 87 minutes. Danny Lloyd found himself
in space on the right hand side of the penalty area and squared the ball for Danny Rowe who
tucked the ball confidently into the far right corner out of the reach of Jas Singh, who had kept
the home side in the game. Fylde easily saw out the rest of the game and climb up to second place
after today’s victory!

Our next game is next Saturday at home to Tamworth so come down and support the lads!
